1.RULES
1.1. The regatta will be governed according to the following rules:
a) The rules as defined in the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS 2005 – 2008).
b) The ISAF Offshore Special Regulations (2006 – 2007) Cat. 4.
c) The Rules and Bylaws of TP52 Class Association.
d) The Transpac 52 Box Rule.
e) The interpretations to the Transpac 52 Box Rule and to the Rules and Bylaws of TP52 Class Association. (As published in www.transpac52.org)
f) The BREITLING MEDCUP TP52, 2006 Notice of Race.
g) The ISAF Sailor’s Classifications Code.
h)
No National Authority prescriptions will apply.
Between the hours of local sunset and local sunrise, the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions At Sea, Part B, will apply and replace Part 2 of the ISAF RRS.
1.2. For Windward/ Leeward races Only, the Two-Length Zone definition in Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) is deleted in its entirety and replaced with:
“Two or Three Length Zone: The area around a mark or obstruction within a distance of two hull lengths of the boat nearer it, except that at a leeward mark, and at a finishing mark at the end of a leeward leg, the distance is extended to three hull lengths of the boat nearer it.”
As state in RRS 86.2, the BREITLING MEDCUP TP52, 2006 Organising Committee has the approval of the ISAF to change the definition of “Two Length Zone”.
1.3. The RRS 44.1 & 44.2 are changed depending where a boat may have broken a rule of RRS Part 2:
1.3.1. When the infringement happens outside of the Two or Three Length Zone of a mark (as stated in this NOR 1.2) only one turn, including one tack and one gibe, is required.
1.3.2. When the infringement happens inside of the Two or Three Length Zone of a mark (as stated in this NOR 1.2) two turns, including two tacks and two gybes, are required.
1.4. Sails Limit Inventory. The sails a boat may carry on board will be according to the point 2.4 of the Notice of Race of the BREITLING MEDCUP TP52, 2006.

2. ADVERTISING
2.1. The event is designated Category C, in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20 – Advertising Code.
2.2. The Organising Authority will require all boats to display sponsor bow stickers with the name Baleària and bow numbers in the forward 20% on both sides of the hull while racing.
3. ELIGIBILITY
3.1. Participation in this regatta is open to all boats with a valid 2006 TP52 Class Certificate.
3.2. All competitors shall comply with ISAF Regulation 19 – Eligibility Code.
3.3. Spanish crew members and foreign crewmembers with legal residence in Spain shall hold the State License for 2006.
4. CLASSIFICATION
4.1. The ISAF Sailor’s Classification Code for category 1 will apply for those helmsmen who compete for the Corinthian Trophy in accordance with “The Rules and Bylaws of TP52 Class Association” VII.B and VIII.A.
4.2. In order to compete for the Corinthian Trophy, each yacht shall declare in writing to the Organising Authority, not later than the Entry Time Limit, the identity of all ISAF Classification Category 1 sailor(s) at the helm. The list of the eligible helmsmen for each yacht shall be made available to all yachts. Only those ISAF Classification Category 1 helmsmen that have been declared as above shall be eligible to steer during the regatta.
5. INTERNATIONAL JURY
5.1 An International Jury will be appointed in accordance with RRS Appendix N. All decisions of the International Jury shall be final as provided in RRS 70.4.

6. ENTRIES AND REGISTRATION
6.1 The inscription requirements will have to be completed in the Regatta Office of the Club Náutico Ibiza before 12:00 hours of the 18th of September.
6.2 Confirmation of entries
6.21. Each boat owner or designated representative shall personally register and sign the Registration Form at the Regatta Office, before 12:00h. of the 18th of september.
6.2.2. The registration of a boat shall not be accepted if the following original documents have not been lodged before the time set in paragraph 6.2.1:
a) Valid 2006 TP52 Rating Certificate.
b) Valid third-party liability insurance covering for a minimum amount of 1,036,000 euros.
c) In case of displaying advertising, authorization from the relevant National Authority.
d) List of crew members with photocopy of passport or ID Card, including contact phone number on shore.
e) State License.
f) For those boats to intend to compete for the “Corinthian” trophy, the ISAF Sailor Certificate Category 1 of the eligible helmsmen.
g) Safety List duly filled in and signed.

7.2. A maximum of eight races will be sailed, including two coastal courses and a maximum of six windward/leeward courses.
7.3. No more than three races per day will be sailed.
7.4. On the 23rd of september no starting signal shall be made after 14.00 hours, except as a consequence of a General Recall.
7.5. The Organizing Authority reserves the right to change the above programme for weather conditions or other reasons.
7.6. The event will be valid if one or more races are sailed.

8. INSPECTIONS AND MEASUREMENT CHECKS
8.1. Daily safety and measurement controls will be carried out during the races by the official measurers of the event. (At least one of them will be official measurer of the TP52 Class)
8.2. The crew weight checking during the events will follow the crew weight control procedures specified in rule 6.5 of The Transpac 52 Box Rule. Sections 6.6.1, 6.6.5 & 6.6.6 are selected and will be in effect.
This point 7.2 substitutes the obligation to publish, before the scheduled start of a TP52 regatta, the crew weighing option stated in The Transpac 52 Box Rule 6.5.

9. SCORING AND RESULTS
9.1. A High Point Scoring System will apply: The winner of each race will receive as many points as TP52 competitors are registered; the second scored will receive one point less; and so on.
9.2. Each boat’s total score will be the sum of her total results. No scored will be excluded.
9.3. A classification for the Corinthian boats will be also established. The scoring of the boat will be her total scoring extracted from the overall classification. No scored will be excluded.
10. TROPHIES AND PRIZES
10.1. Trophie Baleària for the overall winner.
10.2. Trophie Baleària for the first boat steered by an ISAF Classification Category 1 helmsman.
10.3. Additional trophies can be awarded by the Organising Authority. They will be announced at the Official Notice Board (ONB) before the first day of races.
11. SAFETY
11.1. The event is considered Category 4, in accordance with the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations.
11.2. Boats must be equipped with a VHF radio transceiver of at least 25 watts of power. Following channels, as a minimum requirement, are mandatory: 9, 16, and 72.
11.3. The owner or skipper of each boat shall be responsible to comply with the legal rules for handling, navigability and safety of the boat.

13. MOORINGS
13.1. Moorings in the Port od Ibiza will be provided free of charge to competing boats from 16th september to 25th september.
13.2. The mooring will be occupied with the sole responsibility of each boat and will be assigned by thel Club Náutico Ibiza according the order of reception of the entries and the availability of the Marina.
13.3. Asking for hauling boats out of the water may be addressed to:

13.4. No boats will be hauled out of the water after the first Warning Signal without the written permission from the Race Committee.
14. SUPPORT VESSELS
14.1. The support vessels of the boats participating will have to request a mooring to Club Náutico Ibiza:

17. MEDIA RIGHTS
17.1. The media rights of the regatta are the exclusive property of the TP52 Med
Fleet association.
17.2. To develop any advertising action not foreseen at ISAF Regulation 20 (Category C), will be necessary to request the written permission of the Organising Committee. The request shall be submitted a minimum of 24 hours before the permission is required.
17.3. Not compliance with 16.1 will be base to cancel the entry of the responsibly boat.
18. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
18.1. Competitors participating in the Trofeo Baleària, do so at their own risk and responsibility. Attention is drawn to the Fundamental Rule 4: DECISION TO RACE, of Part 1 of the RRS, which states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or continue racing is hers alone”.
18.2. The Organisation Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the Trofeo Baleària.
